Africa Twin Output Shaft Bearing - Crankcase Split Required!
I've just bought the bike (swapping to an XRV750 RD07 from an RD03) for my overland trip to SE Asia. Unfortunately I've found a significant oil leak which seems to stem from a worn main output shaft bearing. There's significant radial play and it almost certainly requires replacement. While I'm in there, may as well replace the shaft too, which is also showing some wear.
I've read a few posts on how to do this, and it seems like a big job. Engine out, split cases and all that.
This was really bad news and I had to have a fair few cups of tea to get over it all.
I'm based in London at the moment, but don't have any suitable garage space to do the job in. So I'm wondering if there's any kind soul in London with either:
- Experience of this job and willing to take on the task for me for money?
- A suitable garage space that I can rent? (I should have all the tools already).
- Anyone selling a gearbox half or similar that can make this job significantly easier.
- Or finally, reccomendations of a suitable garage to do the work for me.
Any help very much appreciated.
Matt.
