AT - Honda U-lock for under seat and luggage rack. Advise me !!

Hey all...

Under the seat and under the luggage rack, there are fittings to accomodate a Honda U-lock.. well, this leads me to couple of questions....

Firstly, does anyone know if the Honday U-lock (120/340) with product code 08L56 KW3 is the correct one and will it also fit under the Honda luggage rack ???????

Also, does anyone know of another lock that also fits and doesnt cost £75 quid

Thanks in advance

Ted

any lock that will fit in the slot will, er, fit. just make sure its a nice long and wide one, short cycling locks arent much use for motorbikes. shackle locks are categorised by the width and length of the D shaped locked area if you know what i mean, the slots in the luggage rack will fit a variety of sizes but the underseat bit is a bit tighter.
i got a sold secure silver rated ABUS lock with a nice long shackle for £35 in a cycling website, and it fits under the seat and the luggage rack fine. the only thing the honda lock comes with is a rubber strap that goes in the rack and holds the lock down, stopping it rattle about. easy to make yourself, i will take pics of mine if you like.

Honda sells their U lock here in Thailand for 250 baht-roughly $6.75.Unsure if it's the same you're referring to.

Oxford Sentinel (large 320 x 180)

Hi ted the lock you require is an Oxford Sentinel. It must be the large one at 180 x 320 millimeters. I bought a magnum and it wont fit in the Honda rack on my Transalp. The magnum is 170 mm wide and a shade under 300 mm long. It is too small to fit in the holes on the Honda racks.
The Sentinal can be bought from around £30 while the Honda locks of the same size are arpoximately £90 plus.
Hope this helps.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
