HU Snowy Mountains 2017 is on Nov 16-19!
The 2nd HU Snowy Mountains Travellers Meeting will be back in Jindabyne!
We did have folks comment that the event was too short, as we know it's a long (but enjoyable) ride to get there! For 2017, we are starting on Thursday!
Mark your calendars now, all the details and online registration is open now, with early bird rates until April 30!

Some comments from HU Snowy Mountains 2016
Couldn't resist sharing some comments from the 1st HU Snowy event!
- "The venue was excellent, with the quality of the facilities and meals a treat. Thank you!"
- "Had a great time at my first HU meeting. Met some lovely people and inspired by the rides they have done. Thanks to all who made this event possible."
- "...amazing, inspiring people who made me feel, despite age and a few creaking joints, I can have an adventure ride overseas, and I should just get out there and have a go. Motivating and confidence building."
- "Great weather, great company, great talks. Great food. Well done team. Special thanks to Jacqui and her Drone... "
- "Meeting such amazing people! Including Brian and Shirley - I am a huge fan of theirs!"
- "Very informative talks!"
- "Such a great way to meet people and also meet some of my favourite travel writers and adventurers. It was an amazing experience that I'll always remember."
- "Mix of great tech sessions and presentations on things I wanted and needed to know."
- "It was a well planned and executed event, with a good balance of technical and travel sessions."
- "The venue and food was excellent."
- "This was a well run event. The location was (is) better than HU NSW 2015 which I attended and presented at. The grounds were great for camping and the support from Sport and rec NSW was very good. Hope the event is at the same venue in 2017."
- "Having two presentation rooms (plus the outdoor areas) is a bonus as more sessions cam be attended."
- "Very well organised and a great sense of community with like-minded riders."
- "An excellent location and relatively quiet at this time of year."
- "Well run, very enjoyable, great people."
- "Great ride to the location."
Sorry we missed it! Also please post pics up from the event - let's see your memories!

Awesome
Fantastic. Already booked in. I can't wait to catch up with some friends from last year's event, meet some new travellers and enjoy another well ran event.

Free Camping
Looking forward to this Jindabyne HU event - has anybody camped at Jindabyne or in the local area for free (i.e. you actually have done free camping there yourself) - a traveller told me he has camped there for free for years on his snow trips?

Free campsites
There are a number of free camp sites by the river, south of Jindabyne after Threadbo. You will want to find one with a toilet. Some 27 km away.
Or you could go along the Barry way (50% dirt) for 30 km. The Cold Flame Rally camps here .. but further south still and not at this time of year.
Personally .. not worth it, pay the fee and have security, longer talking and socialising. Your looking at 30 mins there and 30 mins back + any packing you may want to do ...

Has anyone been contacted about volunteering/helping at this stage? Just wondering what might be expected of me!

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
