Smile France Mini-Meet is on! 6th-8th September 2013

From the organisers, John Whyman (Pongo) and Mark and Gemma Herron (Gemmasun)

France Mini-Meet
6th-8th September 2013.
Camping Les Tours, St Amant-des-Cots
Aveyron (Dept 12).
GPS:- 44.695017,2.658691.

Travellers are invited to come to France’s first mini-meet on the above date at the above location. As this is the first meet we are testing the water to establish if the formula works and to see how we could expand the event for next Year. (please bear with us!).

The location is an established holiday site with both camping and fixed accommodation. HU members Mark and Gemma Herron( Gemmasun) are on site during the summer and are making arrangements. As the dates are after the main holiday season there will be minimal contact or involvement with other holiday makers. The site has excellent facilities with a lakeside environment.

There is no fixed schedule, so we are hoping that this will be a friendly get together to both meet and exchange experiences and to get ideas for future more formal meetings. There may be a speaker for Saturday afternoon to share recent travel stories, (volunteers welcome), otherwise it’s an opportunity just to relax, chin wag or explore the local area.

Costs are for accommodation. Your food/drink is entirely to your own budget:

Tent pitch
- €19 night per pitch inclusive of 2 persons, electricity and parking.
Xtra person €3 per night.
(Pitches are sufficiently large enough to accommodate two tents if you're happy sharing to keep costs down).

Fixed accomodation if required:-
Eco Tent (4 - 5 persons) 41 Euro
Mobile home (4 persons) 52 Euro
Mobile home (4- 6 persons) 57 Euro
Mobile Home (4-6 persons) 62 Euro
Mobile Home (6 persons) 66 Euros

There is a restaurant/bar and shop on site and other shops with in very easy reach for provisions of your choice/budget for the BBQ on Sat night.

An easy meal (Bolognese/salad or similar) will be available on the Friday night @€5 a head, and BBQ equipment will be made available for anyone who wishes to use/get involved on Saturday night at the lakeside. (Please bring your own Spork and plate and something to sit on!)

Plan:
Arrival:- Fri afternoon/evening- food available and drinks.
Saturday:- Lazy morning , local rides, lunch out, whatever!!
Tea time speaker. ( Volunteers welcome! and time TBD)
BBq evening, drinks and general jollity.
Sunday:- Breakfast and ideas exchanges for 2014.

Please could interested persons either post up or contact Gemmasun by PM as soon as possible so that we get an idea of likely numbers before the end of June. (If you'd like to share a pitch or book fixed accommodation, please advise on your PM/post)

Look forward to seeing you there!

Me too, sounds nice, I think I'll be on my way back from east Europe by then and in need of a lazy weekend before coming back to Aussie land. I'm not able to confirm it at present as I don't have set dates apart from when I arrive in France.

O.K. so where is everybody hiding?? Be good to get a show of hands, even from the 'not sure yet' contingent. Further enticement is on the cards in the form of some words of wisdom on short trip planning at a time to be arranged during the meet. Can't promise anything with the weather (yet!) but hopefully it will be and not One thing is for sure, it won't be. and there should be plenty of and banter.

Well, I landed in France yesterday, so I'm much closer now. First thing I ate, chocolate croissant, yum.

New to Horizons Unlimited?

New to motorcycle travelling? New to the HU site? Confused? Too many options? It's really very simple - just 4 easy steps!

Horizons Unlimited was founded in 1997 by Grant and Susan Johnson following their journey around the world on a BMW R80G/S.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
