HU Germany Summer Meeting 14-17 May 2015
We are pleased to announce the 14th HU Germany meeting will be held 14-17 May 2015 in a great new location - Campingplatz Pfrimmtal is located 35 km west of the Rhine river, about 50 km south of Mainz, just at the entrance of one of the best riding areas of Germany - the Pfälzer Wald! A proper campground with great facilities - even showers! Jens Ruprecht is hosting this event.
Full details and Registration open now!
See the pics from the Autumn 2014 meeting here!
Call for Presenters! We're all here to learn, and there's LOTS to learn! We want to do more presentations and seminars - but we need volunteers to give them! Any topic you can contribute having to do with motorcycle travel, maintenance, planning etc, lasting 20 minutes or more, would be great. Please sign up here.

English Presentations
How many of the presentations are likely to be in English and are you looking for any English speakers?
My plans to return to the USA are on hold so I am looking for some European events to attend instead

Hoping English is OK.
I filled out the presenter form a couple of days ago. I offered to do one presentation on riding to Alaska through Canada and another on riding to South America from North America. I am hoping English is OK. I have done these at HU California 2013 and the MOA National. If you want any more info please PM me. Also, Susan has info and pictures for the previous presentations. Looking forward to this event. Dave Rankine

Happy New Year 2015!!! Welcome to HU Germany!
Hi guys out there,
Welcome to another great HU Germany Meeting!
Last Fall we had tried out our new location - and everybody loved it!
Campingplatz Pfrimmtal in Sippersfeld - what a great spot...
Ideal also for families, don´t worry - bring your kids too.
Great fire at night, nice walks through the forest or perfect motorcycle roads around, like the the famous "Johanniskreuz"!
Presenters are always welcome - Presentations in English are totally okay!
Don´t be shy - we also need some workshops too.
For example:
- First Aid
- Outdoor Cooking(Roadkill???)
- Mechanics
- GPS
- Foto?
- Movies? Like Gopros etc.
- Blogs?
Hope to see you soon - Jens and Family

Hey folks,
I am planning to come, but 55-65€ is quite some money. I have never been to a HU-meeting before, could you please explain the costs to me?
30€ for camping, alright, but what are the remaining 25 - 35€ for?
Thanks!

Welcome to HU Germany!
Hi out there,
maybe it sounds too expensive for some of you... But we have some costs to cover...
All the presenters are free, that means we have to finance their costs and presents(T-Shirts etc.)
We have technical equipment like beamers, speakers, Microphone... we also rent tents and other stuff.
And of course we have to keep the website running - to help ALL THE TRAVELLERS AROUND THE WORLD!
Some of you spend thousands of Dollars in equipment that you don´t need... better to spend the money on the Meeting and you get first hand information about things you need and don´t need...
We have a increasing number of visitors every year, so that is a good sign, even if we have to charge 55 Euros.(65 on the spot).
We have people from all over Europe, sometimes even from other continents with the best presentations you can imagine...
Hope to see all of you in May 2015!
Jens(HU Germany Organiser)
Just came back from a great trip around Cuba, and this couple below loved my bike...

Thanks Jens,
I did not know the presenters are being paid. So that might be a way to refinance coming to the meeting then?
Cheers!

Still worth the cost, a chance to meet up with like minded bikers.
At whsts looks like a great venue. I dont think presenters are paid, they may get some expense to cover costs may be wrong.
Still looking forward to the meeting.

I never got payed for presenting but presenters were allowed to camp for free. This is a great deal. Most of the other meetings are to expensive to go there anymore
For me i dont need a expensive camping place with hot shower, a lawn to pitch a tent is fine...I dont mind about cow shit here and there as long as I can afford to come. No to stop travelling and earn money is not an option

Same here. Camping for free for presenters sounds fair to me.
I'mm a student and spent the last 20 months riding for 600€ a month. So I'd love to come to the meeting, but costs + fuel are simply too rough for me right now, more than broke as I am...
Jens, could you please give a heads-up on the situation? Thanks!

Meeting costs...
Hello Travellers,
Again - it is easy to understand...
The Meeting costs are well calculated. Presenters are free to camp, participate at the workshops, etc. - nobody gets paid.
All the other participants have to pay the Meeting Fee. The best is to pay in advance, then you can save 10 Euros.
---Please stop discussions about the Meeting costs...---
People spend 1000s of Euros in Equipment on their bikes!!!
If the would have spent the money to come to the HU Meeting, they would have saved maybe a lot of their money...
It is easy to save... and here you learn how!
So guys, back to the most important - only 4 more months!
Springtime is coming soon - get your bike ready!
See you all in May - Jens

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
