I am going I hope lol.
Seems there may be small little problem with my work and me going. Will get all the getting done and all the paper work done and to all the people that need it long before this comes up.
The roads are grate fun just do not try them at night. This is not SoCal no lights and road fixing is more in line with 3rd world than the many may know. Hay it is the lost coast!
Just the place for a HU meeting.
Wash in the river, walk the sand beach and ride dirt roads that I do not think have seen upkeep for years. All before a all you can eat breakfast! Then a sack lunch and its a out for a photo shoot, cows walking in the serf! All on some vary windy roads with no one on them. Then back to camp in one of the most laid back areas in the USA.
The food was the best I have had at a HU event (and most other places restaurants) . Well worth the price. grate food the Cooks got a standing ovation for there work. Spend the $ and eat vary well. I will see if I can get the Vintner (wine guy) back this year.
If you have never been to a HU meeting or to the lost coast then this is the time to go. The area seems to be made for Horizons Unlimited. The roads are grate fun that will remind you of adventure gust riding them the locals are laid back fun loving and know who you are and where you are going. seem we made a grate impression on them last time an where the talk of the area some time.
The area around the lost coast has some grate area as well not the least is the redwoods and ocean.
Getting there it is off the pacific coast highway 101 a grate road in its own right and near highway 1 one of the best rides in the USA. I like to come in from the North there is a grate vista worth the time to stop and take a picture you will know when you see it is hard not to see it. You may not want to try this at night as you will miss it and he roads are twisty, deer and cows some time walk around on them if you must slow way down.

Sure was great meeting everyone at the event! I failed to get contact info for many folks, so please get in touch if you're in the Silicon Valley area and need anything or want to go for a ride -- or if you want to ride to La Paz next spring with a nut on a Ninja 250. (Hey, I was able to keep up with fellow riders on the freeway yesterday so I promise not to hold you back TOO much. )

Had a great time riding back with you, Craig and Michael. Hope you didn't mind me splitting away when we were stuck in that quagmire in Santa Rosa. I couldn't takes it no more!! That was pretty funny with the six Harleys splitting past us while there was still only like 2 feet between the cars, eh?
Awesome event. Thanks to the organizers, Grant, Susan, and Stephen. And to all the presenters. The learning never ends, but as a new rider I really got a lot out of it. Looking forward to the next NA meeting!

Gear info from Petrolia
Does anyone recall the name of the manufacturer of the tire levers Grant recommended at the demo. I wrote it down - then put my jeans in the wash with the note in the pocket!
To all those who wanted contact info for the rack on my KLR (the one with the flat tire) it's CycleRacks.com
Thanks, Mike

I believe it was Hazet, and that BMW or Touratech might also sell them under a different brand name.
Maybe we could find a discount on a group buy!

My thanks to Grant and Sue for putting this little get together on. What a great weekend! Wonderful weather, people, riding, presentations and sharing of knowledge! While the RT was definitely in the minority everyone was great and I was able to get a better idea of what my next bike will be. Here's a link the the woefully few pictures I took...

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
