Thumbs up Canada West 2014 HU Travellers Meeting, Nakusp, BC, August 21-24, 2014

Full details and Registration open now!

If you haven't been to Nakusp, you owe it to yourself to go - the scenery is spectacular, the roads are stunning, (you WILL see wild animals from the road) and I can guarantee a great time!

Over the weekend last year we had around 26 presenters putting on 36 shows! Check out the range of topics to come in 2014 here, and more are being added all the time!

We also have two new rooms available to us for presentations!

We are also now accepting applications from presenters for putting on a show, it can be on any bike related travelling topic. To help with planning the event we need your application forms in early please!

We are also looking for volunteers as usual! We had an excellent crew last year doing a range of activities. It takes help from volunteers to put on the meeting and this year we'll need a few more. When you register for the event you'll have an opportunity to volunteer, and we'd greatly appreciate it if you'd help out for just a few hours. It's a GREAT way to meet people too!

It worked so well last year, once again we've reserved the ENTIRE campground! So you can camp anywhere you like, have your own space, or share with friends!

You can get the latest event updates by subscribing to this thread, (thread tools, subscribe) or visiting the Facebook event page.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Very excited to come to come to our second HUBB meeting, this one will be during our own RTW which begins in May. We'll be heading south from Alaska at this point so it will be perfect timing for a little break.

AHA! So at least a few people will attend the meeting while being on a RTW!

Will you be with bikes or 4WD?
As my wife and I are doing the same, we arrive in Halifax end June/beginning of July and we will go first west (obviously to the meeting ) and then south... also on a RTW!
I'll pm you about this!

Me and Mrs Fox will be there, also on RTW. Although we have been taking it pretty easy so far as we've been enjoying the snow season in Whistler for te start of our trip. Up to alaska in May/June then Back to BC for a couple of months then after the Naskup Meeting we'll start traveling south to Argentina.

see you there

I'll be there!

Just joined HU and will be signing up for the meeting shortly. I'm a serial volunteer so I'll be putting my hand up to get involved. I'm an RN in Australia - is it OK if I volunteer for first aid?

I have bought an R80 in San Diego and this year is part one of the America's - next year it's south.

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Matt

We also plan to be there. Starting our RTW in Anchorage on June 18th (flying in from the UK). Definitely a RTW theme evolving here

Absolutely! And anything else you like - we have few injuries as there is little riding on-site at the event! Sunstroke, maybe... but it's always good to have someone on call if needed - you just never know.

See you there!

Hi Grant,

Jo and I have had a great time at HU meetings in Aus and the US so we are looking forward to our first Canadian gathering. From what we can see from the other side of the world, the venue looks fantastic and we are well advanced in planning a circuitous route through the mountains to make the best of it.

From our experience, these meetings are the best place to gather information and make the contacts that will prove invaluable along the way. I am sure Nakusp BC will introduce us to many new friends but, hopefully, a few of our old amigos will be there as well.

Regards, Mike and Jo Hannan

This is shaping up to be a real RTW HUBB meeting. Very exciting. We're hoping on arriving a day or two early, get a good spot that way

Looking forward to it!

This will be my first time at Nakusp - but not at HUBB meetings. Excited to be part of this, have heard so much about it and the beautiful setting. It will be at the start of my year+? long travels to South America.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
