Not sure if anyone responded to you yet....as an American your drivers license will allow you to drive in Canada as well. As far as insurance for your bike/car, check with your insurance company. Mine covers me in the USA (where I live) and in Canada as well without needing anything special. Have a great trip!

I am riding from Langley to Nakusp, probably leaving Thursday AM early but not sure of exact departure details or routes yet but could meet up somewhere on the way.
email me at davidb@citiloc.com if you want to arrange a time to meet-up to ride together.

Numerous road closures in both WA and BC due to forest fires.
Nice interactive map showing most of the fires in eastern WA and BC.
Interactive map | Canadian Wildland Fire Information System | Natural Resources Canada
Current closures in BC. We were going to take the scenic route via 33, may have to change our plans.
DriveBC All Events
If you are heading up US 97 through Wenatchee, the Reach Complex of fires in Chelan are still going strong. 97 MIGHT close again. And the detour through Waterville and Bridgeport may close as well, as the eastern front of the fire is still out of control. Its been a real ugly week for us here.
Ride safe everyone!

Thanks for the heads up on this, I like the link you posted.
I'm leaving Thursday AM and will ride with Cadwallader, we will go through Kelowna/Vernon and stay north of the fires, looks like Hwy 3 maybe closed.
Ride safe and see you all in a few days.
David

WOW what a great event
Thanks to all who helped host this event, I must say I have never attended an event where the majority of people were just so darn amazing, so friendly and helpful at all times.
Great presenters, good food, great company and I made some new friends, doesn't get much better than that.
This is what I got to wake up to each day, view from my tent.
You never know who will ride by, look at these two, no fun here.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
