Hello
I am a voluntary presenter at this year's HUNC!
My route is similar to yours, gaknc700x, with the additions of Overland East and Bridge Day. Here's a link to my kml, but don't hold me to it!. I distract easily. Plan is to run the route clockwise, beginning in PA, hammock camping all the way.
Catch you all on down the road- Shane

I live fairly local and am known to several outfitters and shops in the area. Anyone need anything brought in? Tires, oil, parts, etc. I can pick up and deliver without much problem. PM for my cell.

Registration on site
Hi Susan J.,
Question about late registration. I am juggling my schedule to see if I can make it to the HU North Carolina event. I am also trying to see if I can find lodging vs. tent camping; I understand everything is sold out. Can I register on site on Friday? Will you have credit card machine or cash only?

We are 2 guys leaving Brooklyn, NY on Tuesday. First night in Chambersburg, PA (short day) next Lynchburg, VA (normal day) and then on to NC (very long day). All backroads. Not planning on BRP due to the need to make time on the third day and I just can't ride 35.

Heads up all. As of Saturday mooring ( Oct. 3), sections of the Blue Ridge Parkway (BRP) have been closed. A few days ago, I noticed only closure in Virginia between MP-105, north of Roanoke, and MP-167. However, this morning I noticed they have extended the Virginia further north. Also almost entire North Carolina section is closed. You can see the BRP real time map of closures at:
Real-time Road Closures | Blue Ridge Parkway
The URL is : www.nps.gov/maps/blri/road-closures/
You might have to google it. Just the " Blue Ridge Parkway real time closures map.

I'm planning to head out tomorrow (Monday) to re-recon some of the local ride routes I had planned for folks. Is there anything specific (roads or landmarks) folks had heard of they were hoping to see while at the meetup? If so I can try to scout out the current state of those as well.
With the amount of raid in the last week I'm betting that some of the Forest Service roads will be closed or at least in a state that a group ride on them might be bad for the road. There's a high chance of downed trees on some of the more remote paved sections as well. I'll let you know what I find.

Hello,
As of Tuesday afternoon (October 6, 2015) the Blue Ridge Parkway is all back open (green). There seem to be a little delay opening up a short segment just north of Raonoke, Virginia at Mile Post (MP) 158. But, all seems good now.
A reminder, there could be debris (stone, gravel, dirt, etc.) on roads due to heavy rain. So, keep your peed in check especially on right hand turns.

It was great seeing and meeting everyone. Felt welcomed and had a great time talking with everyone I was able to talk to. The seminars were great, with some great stories on what to do and what not to do, and how to do it.
Cannot wait for the next one! (Next October, for me.)
