The UK Meeting was around 350 last year, easily over 400 this year. Registrations are already well up over last year and coming in fast.
I think a Euro meeting will easily be 100, maybe more, the first year. There's a possibility of it being larger than the UK Meeting in a few years.
We don't want it TOO big though, the whole feeling changes, so will split and add more as needed.

Eeegads ... 400!
Splitting sounds good. One in the north doing um routes, another in the south doing equipment? They could both cover the same ground; just each one has a different emphasis?
Anyways - for a first French one may be a place that can have upto ... well, a little over 100?

What do you mean by "come on you Europeans"? I always thought the UK was in Europe ;-)
Maybe you meant the "Continentals" :-)))
I'm deaf on that ear, because I'm leaving for Southern Africa & Oz in 4 weeks, where it's hopingly warmer than our -18°C here in Bavaria. But on return we might discuss this, 2008 or 2009 maybe.

I'm waiting for a reply from Alain - perhaps you could prod him? He was heading off for a trip last I heard, so he may not be back yet.
Meeting schedule is posted, some changes to come - check back in 10 days for an updated list.

2007 FRANCE MEETING in SISTERON (Provence)
hello,
With Grant and Susan, we had to cancel the official 2007 Horizons Unlimited Motorcycle Travellers' Meetings. Sorry.
Alain ( http://www.provence-moto-rando.org/ ) and I (and a few friends) are still trying to do something UNOFFICIAL, no real organisation (people sleep and eat wherever they want in Sisteron - camping, hotels, restaurants, etc ... possible/available), NO registration/subscription, no money involved, so it's FREE.
Of course, we can provide full info to find some nice camping or hotel or similar in order to gather easily, instead of being spread all over the place ...
For those who know Sisteron, in the Provence / South Alps of France, it's wonderfull.
DATE :
weekend of august 24-25-26 2007. You can come some days before and after.
PLACE :
Sisteron, Provence (France)
http://www.sisteron.com/
WHAT TO DO ?
Riding in the French Alps Provence and around, on-road and off-road, firecamps, sleep in the mountain, etc ... in a friendly atmosphere ... we wish it travellers orientated.
Alain can be our guide (with friends if necessary, depending on the number of riders coming) during the weekend only (he has to work during the week).
He was for example proposing : saturday go to "gorges du verdon", sunday go to "col de la bonnette" (l2 very famous rides).
And can give us some kind of road books during the week to organise some rides by ourselves (without him) during the day.
We'll try to "advertise" around, like here on the HUBB, Advriders.com, etc ... don't hesitate to talk about it around also
cheers,
nb : any questions or suggestions or requests, pls just tell ...

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
