Best month for a HU Rio Meet!
Ok, most people will be in Viedma for Dec and Ushuaia for Xmas / New Year so here is my question. Counting for people taking their time to go up and hopefully to Brazil, what would be the best month for a Rio de Janeiro (State) meeting?
It will have to be at the end of the summer or low season to make it affordable and find space.
So, although I do not promise anything for this year, I would like to have an idea.
Vote and let me know. Any comment or suggestion is most welcome!
Cheers!

In 2012, I think there´s two options, between april 28 (saturday) to may 1 (tuesday) we have an extended weekend in Brazil, labour day, and virtually everybody "kill" the monday and make it a 4-day weekend, or between june 7 (thursday) and june 10 (sunday), on Corpus Christi, also an virtually 4-day weekend.
BTW, any news about the Viedma meeting? I will probably be in Viedma someday between 10 to 15 of December on my way to Ushuaia.

Viedma is traditionally the second weekend I think, so that's about right. Check the meeting page for dates and updates as we get them.

Hi, Maria,
October use to be a good season in most regions on brasil: no rains, low prices, nice weather, not so plenty of people on campings or hotels, roads not so crowded.
A mini meeting, for example, a beach even near rio or near curitiba. 3 or 4 days? what about? I suggest just camping. Something like come and go.
Hugs!

Zaplage let us know when you get to Rio! We are on the Rio Communities link.
Right guys, a meeting in the next few months is not possible as we need to get organised and find a suitable local. Must have a "meeting room" so we can use a projector for presentations.
I have a couple of places in mind, but we need to check them out. In the next few months we should be able (hopefully) to get motorbikes and then we can check places out.
Earliest estimate time for a meeting would be September.
Organising a meeting during a bank holiday is not a good idea as campsites or hotels would be full (especially on the coast!) and for the same reason has to be done out of season. So Sept or October is a good time I think.
It will give us time to check out few potential places and see how we can get sorted!
I do not promise anything yet, all depend on finding a suitable place.
We will be doing a presentation on our 1 year trip around south America and maybe also our tour of Northern Vietnam...
I will keep you posted.
Cheers,

Ola, Maria.
Do you know Paraty? It is near Rio, in Rio-Santos highway.
October, or, if not, septermber, would be fine.
Hugs.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
