Terrible news kate only met Jens once at the Blakey Ridge meet and my father met him again at the allenheads meet. A big personality who will be sadly missed. Hoping to make the memorial service.
Please pass on our sincerest condolences to the family..

Jens
Katee,
There really isn't much else that I can add to the previous postings, except to say that I too, only met Jens at the last mini meet at Allenheads but was impressed with his jovial spirit and sense of adventure. Without him organising the w/e we wouldn't have had such a good time.
Its impossible to put into words how he will be missed, even by those who only met him briefly but it is true.
Please convey my condolences to his family and friends.
Sue

mini meet
Can I suggest we carry on with the idea of a winter mini-meet in Jens' name, I'm sure there are people who who like to talk about him and celebrate the life of a good man and fellow biker/traveller. Any comments?
I will try to attend the memorial service

Thank you again. It would be good to see some of you at the memorial service if you can make it.
I think Jens would be delighted if the meeting went ahead anyways and I would hope to come along as well if possible. I'd love to meet all of you.
Thanks again
Kate

On the 16 November A Number of HU members showed up on behalf of the HU community to pay last respects and say goodbye to Jens on his final journey, He will be missed by all who knew him I am sure.
Having spoken to a number of members I will try to organise the winter mini meet that Jens had started to put together.
The propsed dates were the 3rd weekend of January and the Location being Dent in Cumbria. This will be a social meeting, camping, food and very cold nights and probably a limited off road ride out for the silly ones and possibly a road ride out with a warm cafe for the not quite so silly ones.
If there is any interest can you let me know so I can get some idea of possible numbers attending to enable me to approach suitable venues. Cheers Jake.

I didn't meet Jens, but it is very sad news. My condolences to his family and friends. I would be interested in the winter weekend at Dent.

mini meet
I have made the suggestion of a meet in Dent, weekend jan 20/21 2007.
There are lanes in the area, but checking will have to be done as to the TRO restrictions. If Brian is available to help on this front, I believe some serious quantities of should be booked for him. He did sterling work on the last meet.
I am off on my travels on the 23 jan so please don't let me participate in the greenlaning....... If i bust the 90 I will be most unhappy!
The campsite is totally bike friendly and make damn fine breakfasts. The FLW bike club in hudds and MZ owners use this site annually, without any problems. the bogs are basic, but for hardy travellers this shouldn't be a problem. there is plenty of reading material for whilst sat down......
A few links to whet the appetite.

last but certainly not least, Jens' memorial service was a fitting tribute to a man of large stature and spirit. People from the the various parts of his life attended, including Katee and 8 or so of our biking comunity. the church was packed, very little standing room left. He will be missed by many.

Thanks
Hi everyone
Thanks again to everyone who managed to come to Jens funeral. It was great to see people there and Hennis, Jens' brother was very grateful for all your thoughts and best wishes.
It sounds like I'm not allowed to back out of the meeting in January so I guess I'll be there! If anyone is heading over from the Newcastle area I'd be grateful of a companion - Jens normally picks my bike up for me when I drop it!
Thanks again and see you in January
