Bumper UK 2006 Meeting
All the signs are pointing to what promises to be a bumper meeting in June.
Ticket sales have taken off and we already have over 20 people volunteering to entertain you over the weekend on a wide variety of topics.
If you think you've something to add to the weekend then get in touch. Still some slots for slideshows and talks.

Unfortunately I missed last years meeting due to being on honeymoon and will be making up for it by returning this year with a few friends.
I am a RoSPA qualified Advanced riding instructor and was wondering if an offer of an Advanced riding presentation would be of interest.
As well as that I would be willing to offer short assessment rides with the possibility of having them videoed. If people wanted to make a small contribution to Horizons as payment then I would be only to glad to help.

Mr Monk, we would love to have a presentation and some observed rides from you.
Your booked!
I need a title and a sentence or two from you, regarding your presentation for the website and a little about your background for the timetable.
As for the logistics involved in the observed rides I'm sure you already have some ideas.
Email me direct on all the above
Many thanks for your offer.

I suggest you are both very careful about the insurance implications of that..... and I would echo the previous comments about country specifics. I was an IAM observer and there are a lot of areas to be rethought when riding abroad - which is the primary focus of this site. An open debate on those issues might be of more interest to the masses - for example, extremely simple, but don't ride at night if possible - and definitely not in a country where unlit road users (human or not) are common. And regardless of the law, filtering in some countries is damn awkward when you are doing it on a wavy and cracked ridge between two truck tracks in the tarmac.

Thanks for the warning but I don't see any issue.
As is usually the case when you mention "Advanced Riding" everyone has there own ideas of what advanced riding is.
The principles of good machine control, planning and hazard avoidance do not know any borders. Advanced riding is always within the law and the onus is on the rider to know the law wherever he happens to be riding.

I'd like the opportunity to have my riding skills(?) observed.
If liability is an issue I'd be more than happy to sign a waiver or whatever absolving anyone of responsibility/liability. But, what's the legal position during 'normal' IAM observed rides and how would this be any different?

I notice that your advertising the meeting starting on the Thu night this year (did you do this last year?....) I'm only 30 miles away and would be happy to pop down for the evening and provide a show on the Thu as well as the weekend if your short of presenters for the evening.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
