Horizons Unlimited Mini Meeting 3rd Original May 10-12 2024
HU U.K.Mini Meet May 10-12 2024
A little later this year… give you time to dry out!
Same site, at the Miners Standard, Winster, just outside Matlock.
Pretty much the same as last year though I do have a few new ideas for this year
I shall be there from midday 10th of May. Camping behind the pub is £7.00 per night per person regardless of what vehicle you are in or on! Showers are £1.00. There is no electrical hook up available
I have provisionally booked us all a table in the restaurant for Saturday at 7.30.
I hope you can come!

Update.
There’s no entrance fee...Only the camping fee to be paid at the bar on arrival.
Winster is an old mining village and worth a walk around, and of course it’s set in the wonderful Peak District. There’s shops and pubs in walking distance.
The pub is open all day. Good food is available.
We are looking at meeting up somewhere nearby for lunch on the Saturday.
If you’ve not already had a look at the horizons site on Facebook - check it out! A lot busier on there and more feedback. (Same info)

We can have a small fire so long as it is off the ground. Mark Connell is bringing a small fire pit. We just need some wood! Anyone?

Dietary requirements and camping facility (there aren’t many) questions should be made directly to the pub. Best to phone them and not rely on them emailing you...
Anything else you can PM me
Real ale available at the bar... there’s not much of a phone signal anywhere and none at all in the pub… and the pub doesn’t have Wi-Fi

Just a couple of questions about the mini meet in the UK
Hi there,
I've only just noticed that this was on?
The last HU meet I went to was in Bulgaria in 2022, not even sure if it was an official one, but it was great nevertheless.
I have requested to join the HU group on FB but it's pending approval so, in the meantime, could someone please tell me what the format of the event is and whether or not it's open to anyone?
Thanks very much.

Hi Phil!
This is an official H.U. Event. (Mini Meeting)Put on by myself with Grants blessing. However there is nothing really organised unlike most of the meetings held around the world. This is primarily a social event.
Open to everyone with a keen interest in travel.
Hope you can come!

Phil, ALL HU Events are open to everyone! NO need to be a member, though we appreciate the support. We don't discriminate in any way ever, though we do reserve the right to eject problem people. We've only done that to one, ever. And he agreed with us!
So not to worry, just get yourself there - and we don't care how you get there either, bike not required, 4wd, bicycle, shanks mare, bus, truck, all have been done and all are fine. It's all about the love of travel and seeing the world. Though we admit to a bias for motorcycles!

I’m looking for some volunteers to provide some light entertainment on Friday and Saturday night. I want a few folk to bring 2 or 3 of their own laminated photos (size 12 x 10?) and give us a short chat/pass them round in the evening. Obviously it can be any topic.
I’m honestly not sure how it will work (it’s not my idea) but I’m determined to make it work! If you don’t volunteer you’ll be looking at a photo of..…..me, my bike and the local Starbucks….
As always you can PM me if you prefer.

Looking forward to coming along
Hi Both Glynn and Grant,
Thanks very much for the information, I'm planning on coming up and happy to bring a few laminated photos if there's still a need? However, I'll be arriving either late on Friday night or early on Saturday so might miss the Friday night opportunity.
I travelled to Australia in 2022 a mix of my own bike(s), flights and hiring bikes. I managed about 7 months and 36 countries.
In hindsight I think the event at Motocamp Bulgaria was more or less official, I met Travis and Chantil, Kira and Brendon Hak and loads of other wonderful people there. It's a great meeting place.
Looking forward to meeting some more lovely people in Winster in a couple of weeks.
Cheers for now,
Phil

Gonna try and get there but it depends on how my uni end of year assignment goes. Deadline day is Friday evening so if it goes down to the wire I won't have time to prep for the ride. Be nice to come to another UK meet though.

There is a short ride to Grindleford Cafe, Saturday lunchtime. I shall be leaving Winster around 12 for a gentle ride over for lunch. Folks can join me or meet at the cafe, even if you are not at the event.
See you soon!

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
