We have just received an update from a few regular attendees of HU Ireland who will not be able to make it to Enniskillen this year as they will be off on their second "Road Of Bones" and Bam Road trip. Good luck to them, ride safe and looking forward to hearing the stories (oh yes there will be stories smile emoticon ) next year! Why not sign up to their fb page "Bam Riders"
"2016 schedule for the Bam Riders.
In late July we plan to leave Magadan for our second tour of the Old Summer road. This time we are aiming to take in a bit more of what our route has to offer instead of just riding the trails. We will spend a little more time at Kadychan, the deserted city, and visit Oymyakon which is the coldest inhabited town in the world.
This trip we will be accompanied by Míde Maher, who as far as we know will be the second western woman to cross the old summer road by bike and her bike of choice will be a Honda CRF 230.
Also joining us are 2 friends from Germany, Fritz and Thomas whom we met in Vladivostok in 2014 whilst they were driving around the world in a Mini and have since become good friends!
Gary O Keeffe from our 2014 trip will be travelling by jeep, after tearing his ligaments in both his legs on the last trip, riding the bike will not be possible for him this year.
Gary has an ongoing adventure which this trip will be a small part of, you can find information about this at 1eyeontheworld.com
From the old summer road we plan to head south to Yakutsk where Míde will fly back to Ireland. The rest of the group will carry on to Tynda and the start of the western Bam which we will take as far as the start of the 110 which heads south down the eastern side of lake Baikal.
The southernmost part of the 110 leads us to Ulaan Ude where we will obtain our visa’s for Mongolia. Then down to Ulaanbator where we will leave our bikes and equipment for a later trip across the Gobi desert, Pamir highway and the Stans."

Sex, Drugs and Rock no Roll - In Enniskillen
Hello all,
So excited to be back in Ireland for the Travellers Meeting this weekend. Maybe I can buy a horse, a piebald pony or a new Gypsy Caravan. Incredible how the Travellers Meetings have taken off...
See you Friday... please keep the Guinness warm for me...

Just received this message from Motorcycle Outreach.
"A big THANK YOU to all you lovely people who donated, bought raffle tickets, and otherwise raised funds for us during HU Ireland's weekend event. We are delighted to say that you have raised £375 for us, which will go a long way and reach a lot of people. We are very grateful to you all! Please check out our Facebook page and our website for our latest news, and to see how you can support us even more if you like - oh, and spread the word! Thanks again."
Not only was it a great weekend but also now the bonus of knowing that the raffle monies raised will make a difference. Well done everyone who attended.

Last week I gave an update on Jeff Smith at the Horizons Unlimited Ireland meeting.Jeff suffered a heart attack in Russia. It is with a sad heart that I have learned that he has lost his battle. All those who followed his blog will know just how special and inspirational a person he was. My deepest condolences to Tia and all his family circle. May his enthusiasm and love of humanity continue to inspire us all.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
