You will be glad to hear that some of the people following our blog have actually asked to see us and that we do a live presentation. Since we'll do it at the HUBB anyway, we directed them to here, so a few new people should definitely come this year and discover HU also!
Cheers from Kyrgyzstan, as our offroad journey is about to end...

Touratech sponsorship
We're delighted to announce that Touratech in Germany and the UK are supporting the HUBB UK event as sponsors of the north and west camping fields. They'll also have a stand in the Adventure Travel Zone.

Will we have to pay a premium for the Touratech UK field?
Seriously, though, I'm already looking forward to going! I had a great time last year.

Personal note from me on the Touratech sponsorship - would have made it before when the news came in but Birgit and I have been on a ride .
"Thanks very much. You guys getting involved like this are one of the key ways that we have been able to keep the cost for people attending at the same rate for the third year running. This is something we have been really keen to do. Keeps pennies in people's pockets for the road."

At long last my boss got the proverbial finger out of his (insert something suitable) and I got the holiday selection sheet, Yee Haaaa the week with the dates we need for the HUBB are free, so I guess we will be there in 2014.
Now I get a few months to figure out an interesting route to get there, home will be a quick blast up the M roads to the sunny North.

We've had some great news this morning! The TRF ( Trail Riders Fellowship) are going to be joining us at the HUBB UK again next year, but this time they are going to be doing some Green Lane rideouts! Fantastic.
We'll be posting more info on the rides a couple of months before so you are ready to ride. The area surrounding Donington Park Farmhouse is quite beautiful and the guys are looking forward to showing riders bits that most people don't normally get to see.

Have a story to tell or expertise to share?
We haven't said much about the opportunities to be a presenter at HUBB UK yet, so here's a quick run-down....
We welcome ideas for presentations and workshops from everyone with a story to tell about their past/present/future travels and those with some sort of specialist knowledge/expertise.
Around 80 people gave presentations in nearly 200 sessions of talks, workshops and demos at HUBB UK 2013. Over 25 people have already registered as presenters for next year and we'd like the 2014 schedule to feature even more variety than last time.
THE most important thing about HUBB UK is that it's about overland travellers sharing information and inspiration with fellow overland travellers. There's a friendly and very understanding atmosphere, so even if you haven't given a talk in public before, don't be put-off giving it a go. HUBB UK audiences almost never bite
Presenters get free entry to the whole event, one free HUBB UK t-shirt and the kudos of being included in the gallery of presenters on the event page with a link to their website.
The venue has five presentation rooms and numerous outside spots for workshops and practical demos. The schedule gets organised in 40 minute and 90 minute sessions and we also offer the opportunity for people to give Pecha Kucha presentations, which feature 20 slides each staying on screen for 20 seconds.
If you'd like to share your story or expertise at the event, please do register as a presenter as soon as you can.

Motorcycle Show
HUBB UK 2014 will be promoting a motorcycle show again with the usual mix of very worthwhile prizes.
A slight change to the format this year.
Most travelled - as usual.
Most "Interesting" Modifications - A slight twist on the usual title.
Both the above will be judged by a "celebrity" judge who has yet to be appointed.
But we are also introducing a people's choice where everyone gets the opportunity to vote for whatever bike they like the most for whatever reason. The winner will be the motorcycle with the most votes.

And there's more good news! What a great day this is turning into being.
We mentioned that as part of our drive to keep the HUBB UK attendee fee the same for the third year running, we have opened up areas on the Donington site for sponsorship.
The next bit of good news is that Continental Motorcycle Tyres have just confirmed that they will sponsor the Slow Bike Race and Skills Course field! Many thanks guys.

It's ramping up nicely! Just look at all the presenters who have now signed up!
We have space for more so do sign up to present too. You don't need to be a professional or a well known presenter. Far from it! If you have a tale to tell or info to share that will help people with their adventures then go for it!
And the companies who are lined up as exhibitors. It's great to see so many people back with us again!!! Quite a few of the companies have never been at the HUBB UK before so look out for lots of new kit.
We are delighted to have the Adventure and Travel Cinema with us for the first time too!
If you've not looked at the HUBB UK 2014 page recently, do check it out.
And this is a timely moment for me to mention that now is a good time to sign up to attend if you've not done so yet. The current Pass price which saves you £20 holds for a few more weeks.

2015
Okay, so I know it's early but we are coming home to the UK at the beginning of July in 2015 and my Explorer will be there at the beginning of August so if you happen to want to have a mid-August 2015 event that would suit me
If not there's always 2016, right?

200 days to go
Hard to believe 146 days have gone by since we opened registration for HUBB UK 2014, but there are now "only" 200 days left to wait.
The current rates of £55 for a full 4-day pass (saving £20) and £35 for a 2-day pass run until around 9pm on New Year's Eve.
If you haven't registered yet and want to take advantage of the lower rates, probably best to get it done now-ish before all the festive revelry gets in the way

Ahem, sorry, been away doing stuff
197 days to go and the clock is ticking. We've just had more presenters sign up too! In a few days I'm also hoping we will be able to announce something else new that'll be happening. Watch this space and keep your fingers crossed the the plan works

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
