Ferry to Iceland from UK
What sort of prices have folk typically paid for a 4x4 UK-Iceland return? I only ask as Ive had wildly different quotes and reports.

The prices differ depending on the size of your car.
You can expect to pay around 1300-1700euros (950-1210poundS) for temporary importation of tourist cars from the UK. The cheeper prices are for smaller cars but if you bring cars like vans or bigger jeeps expect to pay more.
There are three companies at the moment sailing from England:
Eimskip
Samskip
and
Atlantsskip
You can also use Smyril-line cruise. Expect to pay for one person and car 500-625Euros (340-430pounds). The trip to Iceland from the Shetland island will take few days.
Hope this helps.

Thanks - that helps a lot, its a better price than those Ive heard bandied about and when I last looked at the Smyril website in early summer it was in Icelandic and I struggled with translation!
The car is a Land Rover 110 with roof rack.

The Ferry runs from Lerwick to Iceland
So from Mainland Scotland you have a 12 hour ferry to catch to get to Lerwick which pushes the price up
From memory the 2 ferries for 1 person plus a Landrover 101 cost around 950 UKP return
I left Lerwick at 2:00am on the wednesday and got to iceland 9:00am Friday
There were rumours last year that the diesel tax you pay on the ferry is to be abolished - BUT the price of diesel a the pump will go up dramatically , shame really as I won big time on this method of pricing

Iceland - car from Britain
Geokobbi - did I understand your reply correctly.....
If I bring a car in from the UK as a tourist, do I have to pay two amounts - 1> the ferry ticket 2> some sort of importation tax?
(The car is a Land Rover, quite big and heavy, a diesel)
Thanks
Sam
