KLE500 Questions?
Hi All,

Had my KLE500 (2006model) now for a couple of months, I have a fireblade also but seem to have more fun on the kwak now!.

Just a couple of questions to ask...

The tank holds 15lts... how much is the reserve?
(I read an interesting one on here where the fella had doctored the tank somehow to make the reserve kick in later?)

Also, Im thinking of getting a taller screen. Theres not much arround for the KLE's in the UK in regards to acessories. Just wandered if anyone has bought an aftermarket screen and how they fair?.

Like I said earlier, Love the bike to bits, Ive always had sports bikes and got the KLE coz it was cheap, £2500 for a 2006, 700mile example.

I would love a big GS1200 or something, but that would mean getting shut of my fireblade, now i have the best of both worlds!!!

I think my rear stock tyre has just about had it now thanks to me thrashing the little 500 all over the place, Any recomendations on tyres???.

kle 500 questions
hi roy
the reserve is 3.4 litres and you can get a bigger screen but it is off a kawasaki z1000 which has two sizes, a straight up screen and a flip up extension for touring
as for tyres , i havent had to change them yet

I was looking on the net and I see MRA do a touring screen with a adjustible spolier do difflect the wind over. At £80 its a bit stiff !!.

I find the standard screen fine on the whole, But if I can drop on one at a decent price then I will get one.

The bike handles fine on the standard tyres(dunlops, I think?). I find that because of the better view from being high up, my speeds arround the twisties are faster then when im on the fireblade!.

Overall, Im chuffed with the little bugger, Just fitted the oxford heated grips(the new version, Better made, LED controller). I called into a harley shop and bought a mudflap that just fits nice to the front kle mudgard. This stops a whole lot of crud going onto the engine and radiator.

I cut an old car mudflap up and attached it infront of the rear shock, so no muck off the back wheel gets onto the shock now.

I got a topbox on now, and have a square seat bag that sits on the pillion part of the seat for when I tour on it (if the wife lets me out!).

KLE screen
Hello Roy.

Have a look at the KLE pics thread, to see the screen I made. It is quite easy if you have a heat gun, and a sheet of 2mm perspex. Costs about 25USD for the sheet, and a bit of patience.

Hi Roy,

Its good to hear someone here in the UK speaking up for the Little 500.
May be you could answer a few questions regarding it proformance.

What sort of crussing speed will she keep at happly and have you tried it off road.

Hi Pleco & Colin,

I dunno if im that ambitious about crafting my own screen, but mabey i can adapt one from another bike. There are a lot of universal type screens arround that might do the trick?.

Colin, I found that the KLE will cruise all day at 70-80mph. Once you start pushing past that you will notice your fuel range drop. I did get the beastie up to the ton but it was a bit wild.

I have taken the Kwak off road and it was faultless, As I said in earlier posts the KLE has blown me away. Never thought I would have so much fun on it, And if the wife said one of my bikes had to go...bye, bye blade!.
