Versys X300

I know its a very new bike and no one yet has pannier frames for it but I was wondering if anyone had ever made their own frames for a bike?? If so, would you recommend it or waiting 1 maybe 2 years for an official frame to come out. Looking at getting SW motech Trax panniers but the frame does not yet exist for my bike. Anyone know of one that could be modified or, as previously mentioned, custom make my own?

Hi,

The only rack I know for this bike is the Givi pl4121.
Sw-motech doesn't seem to wanna make a rack for their panniers. That's a shame.
But maybe the Givi one is compatible with sw motech's panniers ?

SW-Motech says they have adapters for Givi racks for it.

The Trax looks like it mounts to a fairly standard tubular rack. If you're getting someone to fab you up a set of racks, you could easily tell them to keep the Trax's mount system in mind.

Not sure what's up in EU but looks like Kawi USA already have some accessories available. If sales continue strong, I'd bet Kawi will expand it's accessory line for the X300.

Once this happens I'm sure at least one or two aftermarket companies will jump in with alternative racks and possibly other things like bash plates, engine guards and more.

I'd prefer lighter soft bags as the little Versys is already quite heavy for a 300cc bike. (about 387 lbs.) My DR650 is only about 360 lbs.)

here are a couple Kawi items I found for Versys X300:

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
