If price isn't a concern, go to the vendors section at www.advrider.com and look for a poster by the name of Boejangles... could be Bojangles...not sure/can't check from this computer.

His seats are beautiful and comfortable. He has quite a list of clients in the US and a few in Europe now.... all happy with the purchase.

Both KTM and KTM-Sommer do a "comfort seat" that has a gel insert. Price is about GBP 70.00 if I remember correctly. Not sure if Touratech offer somethnig similar.

Doesn't the 04 640 Adv already have a 'comfort seat'?. I'd certainly check with Sommer first.

Also, if buying from KTM, be careful because the comfort seat for the 640LC4-E isn't compatible with the Adventure (tank's a different shape).

I have one for my LC4, good for about 100 miles or so (much better than the original) but looking at making a sheepskin cover held on with elastic straps.

Cheers.

Another option: Ask your local upholsterer shop. My needed two tries (the first one was a painfull experience) but finaly he found a very comfi solution, ok for 500+km/day. Think the trick was a bit wider and inside two different layers of filling, one very soft to eat the vibes and one a bit harder to sit on. Generally I'd say this is a very personal thing, I'v seen riders beeing comfortable on the higher, harder and narrower rally seat which would be a real pain in the a.. for me.
Cheers, Kudi

In a recent trip to Morocco (with my R1150GS) I have used the Airhawk seat (http://www.airhawk.co.uk/ and here http://www.ravenfeather.com/en-us/dept_74.html). It was very comfortable all the way there and back (3500 km from UK). Having used it I don't think I will go to any long trips without it.
