Ever heard of a KXR Prado?
Me neither but looks pretty good if you can find one:
Land Cruiser - KXR - Coches y Automóviles Toyota
I am told "The KXR is a model produced only for certain markets - Australia and Spain among them. Beefed up suspension, built in winch, two batteries,
manual diff lock, protection underneath, ABS can be switched off, etc."

Toyo KXR
Hi Chris,
Yes, it's a more basic version of the 120 series. Narrower tyres on steel wheels so no plastic wheel arch flares, basic upholstery, no colour coded bumpers, mirrors etc. The front end is still IFS unfortunately.
We've seen several in the Pyrenees and in Morocco.
We've got a regular EU spec 120 and they're better than most folks think. 160,000 hard miles and still going strong. The front end is a bit weak and for heavy duty off-road use you should double skin the front inner wings.
The D4D engine has plenty power. A known fault is the copper injector sealing washers which can corrode and leak causing oil contamination. Replacement aluminium washers are an easy remedy and normally done under warranty.
Another option is to import an commercial from Ireland. They come with back seats removed, loadbay installed, rear windows blanked. Beef up the suspension and you're good to go!
As the 120 has been replaced by the 150 they're very affordable.
Happy trails,
Jojo

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
