As far as I am aware landrover have no plans for replacing the defender, they are intent on following the passing fashion fad for SUVs

Yes its gone very quiet, after DC100 debacle , Defender Mk2 is in too hard basket I think !
Its a good job its ending in 2015 , as its current path was like the Terminator becoming a kindergarten teacher

I hope they come up with something.... a few people still think a replacement is in the pipeline.....me included, but you guys are correct I bet - it will end up as an electronic fashion accessory and not a working vehicle/overlander

Land Rover confirm they are NOT giving the Defender replacement a retro look - Land Rover Parts | Range Rover Spares and Accessories

Im still in the market for a utility vehicle and not an SUV, though our Discovery 2 V8 is still having to be the jack of all trades at the moment, 7 seats to cart people around, then fold them down and load the back up with gear when I need to, but its getting long in the tooth and Im looking forward to getting another diesel....get on with it LR!!!

I agree , thats probably a better way of putting it , as they will put something out there , maybe even with a "defender" name on it , but at that point its similarity will most likely end , for a start its going to have a "freelander" type front end as current legislation more or less demands that , as it will most likely be in "car" rather than "truck " category . Wait and see I suppose, and it will most likely have the 2L , that if you want to do any serious work with , will need thrashing to get anything out of it

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
