Troopie / HJ80 - Quick question regarding wheels;
I'm looking for a set of 6.5 x 16" steel rims for my ("88) HZJ75 which is a 6 bolt pattern, do the LC 80 series use the 6 bolt pattern ? would they be a direct fit ? I'm looking to use 255/85R16 tyres.
I fancy a set of original Toyota split rims - but its the same old augment about tubed / tubeless... I don't plan on changing the tyres myself and the more remote places I travel the more road side tyre repair places I see..... (crazy!!)
Any ideas on where in the UK / Europe sell these, ideally second hand as I want to keep the budget down.
Kind regards
Matt

Hi Matt,
I'm in the same boat with my 60. Are your standard wheels 6x16 too?
It is a shame to have to swap the wheels for the sake of 0.5" but i guess the 255 85's say they need 6.5" minimum for a reason.
If you find a uk source please post it, i'll do the same.
I tried some 7x16 white 8 spokes from Devon 4x4 but they fouled my front calipers

Hi - when I prepped my 80 series for my trip, I bought 5 new steel wheels for about £150-£160 from these people:-
Steel Wheels
Not sure whether the ones for the 80 also fit the 75, but Paddock should be able to advise. But do check them carefully when you get them. One of mine in particular should have been sent back and swapped - it caused me balancing problems.

Thanks, the wheel and tyre man at Paddock was really helpfull (when they eventually picked the phone up!)
He has confirmed that their 7x16 8 spokes do have the ring around the mounting face that the ones from Devon 4x4 lacked, so they should clear my calipers ok.
They're only getting them in black and have 100 or so arriving on sat, i'm going to wait till pay day and give them a try.
I'll report back once i've got them

Are you sure you need a 6.5" wheel for the 255/85 ? I've just read someone fitting them on a 6" if thats the case then I could look for a set of original split rims and fit inner tubes / or have the rim welded up .... i'm not a big fan of the white 8 spokes...
Can I ask what you're paying for the wheels and have you had good offers on the tyres ?
many thanks Matt

Take a deep breath......
5 rims and 6 BFG M/T 255 85's.......£1025 all in delivered!!
There's no way i have that sort of cash, but having tracked down the wheels i want, i'm going to grab them while i can and get the tyres in dribs and drabs later.
I still have some perfectly good A/T's on the truck at the mo, so i'm in no rush, it's just they're not going to be up to the the next big trip (Cape Town and back).
The wheels are £29 + vat each, so i think i'll start there
They want 118 + vat each for the tyres (i haven't researched enough yet to know how good a price this is (or isn't)
