Carnet de Passage - Change exit border (Iran)

We are in Iran at the moment and wanted to travel to Azerbaijan as planned via Astara. Not possible due to the extension of the restrictions. We didn't get a permit for entry via the embassy either. Is it possible to leave the country with the Carnet de Passage at a different border than the one declared at the time of entry? In our case to Armenia via Agarak. Anyone have experience? Thanks.

There is no problem to leave by another border (I have done it more than once), but you can expect the Iranian Customs to make a claim from the carnet issuer, which will require sending scans of the entry and exit stamps on the carnet.

Thanks for the answer and support. We then drive to Armenia near Agarak.

And as always, your final PROOF of EXIT from any country is one or preferably both of:

1: entry into the NEXT country,
2: Entry into your HOME country - be sure to get the carnet stamped in.

I’m trying to get to Iran next summer, but I am first going from Israel into Europe (Out of Africa into EU),
I understand that Iran will not let anyone in with an Israeli stamp,
But my main question is what if they question about my Jordanian exit stamp to Israel on my Carnet? Will I still be in the clear? Thanks

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
