Leave Oman tomorrow!
Howdy,
Shieky, you missed it mate. As soon as youy ride over the mountains here your in totally different country. Like the back roads of the Lake District! It is so green here and I bet you could even surf here as well! It rained here yesterday and yes I got wet but was great to ride around the hills and experience another side of Oman apart from the desert. It is a long boring ride down tho but was good to be on the bike.
Ok tyres, I managed to get the guys from BMW Muscat to give me the set off of the R1150GS that theu have there. Oh they had 2 new bikes go underwater during the cyclone so they are insuranc jobs now. A R1200GS and a F650 GS Dakar! Someone may be able to pick these up off of the insurance company very soon for a good price. They have only been under so shouldn't be too big a drama?
Any way, there is a guy in Switzerland who will land tyres in Muscat in 8 days (Swiss Post) or 2 days (DHL) but DHL is more than double. Name is Andi and web site is www.sk-parts.ch or call on +41 5265 43813, he stocks a great range of tyres and you can pull the catalogue off his site. Tell him that I gave you the contact.
Hi Peter,
Yes mate I have read your site and have made some notes, I also got a email from Lars and have decided to go the same way that you did. I have the wanderlust software and yes your info is in it, thanks very much.
Oh FYI too, It is very east to get a Yemen visa in Muscat, my wife had no problem and she is Indonesian, cost is 12OMR and took about 3 hrs. The one for Djibouti was a different story as it is issued through the French Embassy and cost 31.50 OMR!!!!
Thanks guys and keep in touch.
Cheers
Ivan
