Storing my bike in Dubai or Oman???

Hi all,

I need some info on storing my bike in Dubai or Oman for 4 or 5 months.

I'm riding from Aussie to UK on a wee Yamaha TTR250. I'm currently in India and with winter fast approaching Europe I don't think I'll make it plus my bank balance is getting rather low. So I'd like to store it somewhere, head home and work, then come back around March/April and continue to Europe.

I have a Carnet for the bike. Does anyone know what the rules are for leaving a bike on a Carnet in Dubai or Oman? Can it be done?

And also, can anyone recommend an affordable place to store my bike? Anyone got a big garage?

Thanks

Mark

Dubai

Hi, I'm in Dubai, and could probably help with storage, either outside under a cover, or possibly in a garage. Don't know what the storage rules would be, by I see no prob, if carnet etc still valid. Larry

Excellent!! Thanks guys. I skyped the RTA and finally got through to someone who knew the answers but just as he was about to tell me what I can or can't do the internet cut out!!

Thanks also for the offer of some garage space. Much appreciated!!

I'm now trying to decide between leaving my bike in Dubai or Kyrgyzstan. I'd love to ride around Oman and its wadis etc and race across Saudi Arabia to Jordan, but Saudi transit visas seem impossible. And leaving it in Kyrgyzstan will put me in and around the Pamir Highway and the Wakhan Corridor in Afghanistan, among many other mountains ranges.

The world is too damn awesome!!

Hi Mark,

I'm pretty sure you are the Mark I met in Iran, are you? Manuel here
If you are, my question is already answered and you ended up in Bulgaria

However, just to make sure, if you are not did you end up storing in UAE? Because I have a similar issue, I need to exit and reenter UAE without my bike to renew my visa, see http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...iption&t=79548

Hope you reached Bulgaria well and have a nice time mate!
