Are visas currently being issued at the Syrian border?
Hi,
Can anyone tell me if visas are currently being issued at the Jordan/Syria border?
We are Brits hoping to transit with our car given the absence of any ferries at the moment.
I appreciate the situation can change at anytime but has anyone crossed recently and obtained a visa?
Alternatively has anyone got a Syrian visa from Cairo/Amman?
Thanks very much.

Visa Syria/Jordan
If you mean a visa for Jordan from Syria yes (at least a couple of weeks ago when I came through).
If you mean a visa for Syria from Jordan, then no. Syrian visa's (for UK nationals) must be sourced in the UK.

Sorry not to be clear. I meant a visa for Syria.
We're in Aswan at the moment so getting a visa from the UK isn't going to be straightforward. Friends of ours (from UK) who crossed Syria last week got their visas back in Khartoum a few weeks back. We were planning to try and sort them out in Cairo, however, some folks staying at our hotel at the moment who travel this route back to Europe each year are confident they can get them at the border. Does anyone have recent experience? I realise the situation could change any day and if things deteriorate between now and then we will have to make another plan.

Brits are finding any form of visa currently almost impossible, I would find another way at the moment.

So, I got my visa at the border (Urfa, Turkey side), no problems because I do not have an embassy in my country (new zealander) If your country doesnt have one then I would proceed to the border and try.
Ps - i had to hide my camera and laptop - now that gets exciting on a motorcycle!
