Awesome Service from MotoPlus, Casablanca

Hi All:

I unexpectedly had to replace a back tire on my 2001 Honda ST 1100 when I was touring in southern Morocco in January.

When the tire wore out, I thought I was well and truly screwed... you see more Bugatti Veyrons in Morocco than 18 year old Honda Pans. Browsing through the forum here, and through Tim Cullis's excellent Morocco Knowledgebase forum, I came across a post Tim made 8 years ago describing MotoPlus. I cautiously sent an email to MotoPlus, hoping against hope that they might have the tire I needed, and setting out some alternative sizes that I thought I could squeeze onto the rim for long enough to get me out to Spain.

I sent the letter after dinner on a Sunday night. Imagine my surprise when I received a reply in perfect English from Mr. Benouiz, the Purchasing Manager, advising that he had my exact size in stock... but needed to know if I wanted the Michelin, the Bridgestone, or the Metzeler?

Wow. All I could think was "Alhamdulillah!"

I wrote back, asking for the Metzeler, and Mr. Benouiz advised me to email the warehouse manager and expect a reply the next morning. I did, and the warehouse manager told me he could ship the tire to me by bus the same day, and that the easiest way to pay for it, rather than fooling around with credit cards or bank transfers, was just to go to a nearby branch of Credit Du Maroc and make a deposit to MotoPlus's bank account. The nearest branch of Credit du Maroc was a 5 minute walk away - I made the deposit, and 15 minutes later, received a message from MotoPlus that the deposit had been noted and the tire would be shipped.

I then converted the price I had paid in Dirhams into Euros and discovered that the tire was about 20% less expensive than the best European price I could find online.

The tire arrived that evening, and the next morning, I picked it up from the bus freight handler. It cost 60 MAD (peanuts) to ship the tire from Casablanca to Ouarzazate. The tire had a date stamp branded on it of September 2018, the darn thing was fresher than the croissants at the hotel I was staying at.

So, friends, not only do I think MotoPlus is awesome in every possible way for customer service, they are also awesome in every possible way for pricing.

I called back the next day and ordered a front tire (figured I might as well do them both at the same time). Same thing - overnight shipping, and 20% less expensive than European prices.

I highly, highly recommend this company, it was a delight to do business with them.

Michael

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
