Question Borders open between Occidental Sahara and Mauritania?

Hi fellow travelers
Does anybody know if it‘s possible to cross the border in Guerguerar?
A friend who is currently in Dakhla is trying to get from Occidental Sahara to Mauritania by motorbike but was adviced by two travelers that borders are currently closed.
Can anyone confirm that?
Thanks a bunch for your help!

Latest I've heard is the border is closed except for freight.

You friend should be able to confirm the latest with the authorities in Dakhla

Peter from Bikershome writes on the FB page that he has heard the border is opening on 18 February.

I didn't even realise it was closed!

Its been closed for almost a year, same as the other borders.

Peter's working on a rumour at the moment.

There a few overlanders stuck south of Morocco waiting to come north, not that it will help as the options for returning to europe are very limited again

Border still closed

Hey all,

great information in this forum, thank you all!

Did anybody already find out if the border in Guerguerat is still closed for tourists?

Thanks and best,
Matthias

At the moment still closed for tourists and no reliable info from authorities when it will be open.
This of course doesn't mean that it will be closed tomorrow ... but the probability of such an event is small.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
