Question Green Card Ceuta?

Has anyone come through through Algericas > Ceuta recently? Im trying to find out whether the service has been reinstated in Ceuta yet or whether the Agents in Fnediq (Matu Insurance) are still operating? Ive tried contacting them and not received any response.

Thanks that's very helpful. Do you know if I need a Green Card as well or if just local insurance will satisfy the authorities

Just local insurance.

A Green Card just proves that you insurers provide the minimum legal insurance to drive in the country. I'm insured with NFU in the UK and they issue a green card that provides the evidence that they cover me for Morocco. Both the local insurance and a green card is 3rd party cover only

There is an insurance 'kiosk' on the right just after the exit but it was shut when we went through (on a weekday) back in August.

Green card insurance is needed for Europe and for Ceuta which is part of Spain. Other parts of the world use difference colours, for example, brown card in West Africa.

I've attached an example of a 'frontiers' insurance document issued in Morocco in 2020.

Normally I travel with a Spanish-registered motorbike or 4x4 for which the insurance automatically covers Morocco, but on this instance I was taking my new UK motorbike on a jaunt, so had to pay 969 dh for a month's cover.

On that occasion I was coming in via Tanger Ville, but the arrangements concerning insurance portacabins or whatever seems to change all the time.

Kinda of going of topic but for UK vehicles Green Cards for europe was dropped late 2020/early2021. I certainly haven't needed one in the last 2 years. Legally it has to be printed on green paper (although I suspect in Morocco the police dont care)

Recent travellers are reporting the Ceuta booth is open as normal

Green Card Ceuta?

Hi All and thanks for your help and advice. I thought Id post an update for anyone else who is having similar issues or concerns. Based on this and information from other travellers, I contacted SAGA insurance in the UK (my insurance was due for renewal anyway) Using LV as the underwriters, they were able to provide me with full comprehensive cover for Morocco at no additional charge and I now have my Green Card. FYI, this is no longer referred to as a Green Card, rather an "International Motor Insurance Certificate". They also provided me with this valuable information:-
"When travelling, you must have a paper copy of the green card; digital versions are not acceptable, so for example a photo of a green card on a phone won't be accepted.
Please print your green card on A4 paper.
Previously, green cards had to be printed on green paper to be valid but from 1 July 2020 those rules were changed and they are now printed on white paper."

Hope this helps others

Since 1 st of July 2020 the law changed, the "Green card" is printed on white paper and can be digital too, but it is recommended to have a paper copy with you

My 2 green cards for 2022 from NFU were still printed on green paper.

Rips2 are you certain Saga is fully comprehensive? ie - is it written in the policy docs? A green card usually only demonstrates they provide the minimum legal cover for the country you are in (3rd party for Morocco). I cant find anything on their website or online docs to confirm. If it is I may have to change providers next year.
