Hi,
I left my motorcycle in a campsite's locked garage, and flew home to Ireland for a few months. I plan to go back in March to ride the bike home.
I was told that I would need to get customs to "seal" the bike (put a lock on the brakes or chain so it could not be used without breaking the seal), or place it in a customs compound. That's not 100% strictly adhered to....
I turned up at the airport in Marrakesh on crutches ( I broke my leg near ouarzazate) and went to the customs office in the terminal building. I explain that I wanted to go home to have my leg set and recover, and to come back for the bike. I was asked where it was and I gave him the name of the campsite, and showed a photo on my phone of the bike locked (padlock on the rear sprocket). He also took note of the doctors note I had from a clinic in Ouarzazate. Luckily I had been given 6 months on the green form for the temporary import of the bike, and I was given permission to go home but I have to get the bike out by the end of that 6 months.
The customs guy stamped my exit form, and the airline/security all accepted it with no question.
And i must say, the customs guy was a pleasure to deal with.
