Morocco exit procedure at TanMed - update
From our most recent visits, the exit procedure for vehicles at TanMed is slightly different - but passport checks and stamps remain the same.
For the vehicle check, you no longer need to get out of your vehicle, or present your small, white TVIP card. Instead, the douaniers will take a picture of the front of your vehicle with a ThinkPad-sized device and enter the registration number. and you're good to go.
Presumably this links with the system where your personal details are held, however there was no double check of my identity as the driver.
Also, regarding the importation of vehicles where the driver's name differs from the V5 registration document, an explanatory letter on our stationery usually is sufficient. If the vehicle is registered to a company, I get the owner to print out the letter on their company-headed paper. No need for notarisation for either.
May not be official procedure but it's worked for us for many years.
As a separate issue, we had one vehicle exported by a driver - his father had imported the vehicle and the father's were on the TVIP. (He'd had to fly back to the UK urgently.) I'd prepared a letter with full explanation including both names, dates of birth passport details, etc. We also had an explanatory letter from our chums at the British Embassy in Rabat. We had all this ready to present, but the douanier just glanced at the TVIP and sent us on our way.
Happy trails,
Peter
