Just paid Carlos' office 250Euro for open return Algeciras to Tanger Med (list price 370 Euro).
GPS Coodinates spot on but office is behind Carrefour Hypermarket as you come into Algeciras (not Lidl - which is close).
Look for MASSIVE Carrefour sign on the dual carriageway as you come into town from Malaga direction.
Carlos office filled out green car imprt forms for us without asking. Plus gave us cheap bottle of Spanish fiz and a chocolate cake ('promociones')!
Carlos not there but his chap v friendly - he didnt speak English: I dont speak Spanish.
No camping within 20k of Algeciras so stay in a hotel (Hotel Mirador 55Euro - v nice, overlooks port and beach).
Morocco tomorrow.

Ouch!

Hi Scott,

250€ is a bit steep!

There's a campsite at Camping Al Boustane at Martil about 15 miles south ofv Ceuta, just off the N16.

Mmm... Carlos' fizzy cidre - best ice cold; the cake is good, though.

Happy trails,

Jojo

Hi all, I plan to buy at the port, but can anyone tell me what lines / ports take trucks? Specifically a 3.5m tall, 2.5m wide 6.5m long unimog?

I don't want to waste time in the wrong queue! :-)

Hoping to go Algeciras to Ceuta unless there is a better option for me.

Hello Merv.

It maybe worth PMing grizzly7 who spent along time in Morocco last year in his unimog.

I have been on the "normal" fast ferries between Algeciras and Ceuta / Tanger Med and I'm sure there has been large HGV's on them.

If you have a choice, I would choose Tanger Med to arrive at, as it's so much easier to enter Morocoo than Ceuta / Fnideq.

Also it maybe worth going to see Carlos for a price.

I will keep my eye out for you in Morocco, my young lad loves Unimogs, that is if you're still there in April.

Matt

We cross over from Algeciras every month in a Unimog. No problem with any oporator.

Even the "Fast" ferry will take a Unimog [and ours with roofrack is HIGH], we also tow long heavy-duty trailer.

Carlos is as always good for cheap tickets but have a close look and you will see why they are cheap!

We paid €230 open return for two people and campervan from Carlos. No bubbly but free cake. Carlos wasn't there, the two ladies spoke only spanish and a little french. Ferry was fast and we had no problems.

Aferry.com: open ticket for 2 pax + bike (Algeciras - Tanger Med) for 115€ two ways.

So I think you are overpaying...

Same deal from both. Fast ferry both ways, open return.
