Short trip from Spain to northern Morocco?
My wife and I will be flying to Spain in May 2016, and I believe there will be time for me to spend a few days in Morocco. If you only had about 3 days, where would you recommend going? Is Fes worth a look? Anywhere particularly special? I will be alone for that part of the trip because my wife doesn't enjoy motorcycles.
I assume it would be best to rent a bike in mainland Spain and take it over on the ferry, since I would not be going to Casablanca or Marrakesh. Does that seem best?
Thanks for any advice!

You will need written permission from the motorbike owner plus the registration papers (permiso de circulación). Spanish insurance normally covers Morocco, but check this.
Fastest and least expensive crossing is normally Algeciras to Tanger Med. With only three days I wouldn't go as far as Fez.
Day 1 travel east to Fnediq, south to Tetouan, south east along the Mediterranean coast to Oued Laou, then overnight at Chefchaouen.
Day 2 west on the R410 to El Ksar el Kebir, then overnight at Larache (Hotel Espagne).
Day 3 north to Asilah, then back to the port.

In 2013, I went to Gibraltar and decided that I also wanted to spend a few days in Morocco, just like you.
You can read about what I did on my travellog: Jan Krijtenburg homepage (Travel pages)
The Morocco part starts on page 14, day 10.
Have a nice trip.

Thanks so much, guys! It's exactly the sort of information was hoping for. My short trip is still half a year away, but it's nice to have some sort of plan to look forward to. I really appreciate it.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
