Grant in Arizona April 2011
Anyone travelling near Amado Arizona in late March early April may be interested in the Overland Expo event scheduled for April 1-3.
In addition to a variety of people and presentations, apparently our own Grant Johnson has been lined up to help Overland Expo with a number of presentations and to provide those attending with access to a variety of HU products (What's a portable Souk called?)
Anyway....could be of particular interest to folks in NA who are tired of winter and need a reason to head for some warmer days.
Has anyone been to an OE event before. Comments? Insights?

I am sure there will be better answers than mine on here soon. We went to the one at Yavapai Fairgrounds 3 years ago in Prescott. It was really professionally done, lots of great vendor stations (overland types!) and great entertainment from guest speakers. It was non-stop activity, and we only went for a day. There is training programs for all types of vehicles, camping on site, and food vendors too. Yes, you can buy your own Unimog there!!!
This year and last it is at Amado, about 30 miles south of Tucson. They are headquartered at the Amado Ranch Resort, where we have stayed before, but only camping is arranged. Same routines as in previous events. Even evening programs. We are going this year with several friends and it should be perfect weather.
I had suggested to the organizers a couple of years ago, that they get in touch with Grant and Susan, as they would greatly add to the professionalism and enjoyment. Maybe I helped move this forward or not?
I see this getting stronger every year as it is the only mixed vehicle venue I know of in the Adventure world. Go to it. Its fun!
Allen.

Allen, they did invite us, so it could well be you were an influence - so thanks!
To confirm - yes, Susan and I will both be there, giving talks and demos, as well as showing off the DVD's etc.
Please drop by and say hello if you go!

Overland Expo
Allen....good to hear some positive comments about the event and of your potential influence. I am looking forward to attending as a way of combining a winter trip south with some learning and connecting. Perhaps will see you there along with Grant and Susan.

People make the event
There is quite an array of traveller's highlighted as attending, which should make for a great event.
And there should be a good selection of gear and books etc (assuming Lois, Austin, and Grant etc bring stuff...hint hint...) that'll add to future 'winter day' options.

Overland Expo 2011
Ken and I will be at Amada this year. Looking forward to catching up with people that we have not seen for many years, especially Grant and Susan. We last saw them back in the UK in 1999.
Also looking forward to meeting Lois and Austin after reading the books and seeing the DVD's.
Should be a great weekend with plenty of exhibitors and presenters.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
