Garmin Mobile XT

Has anyone got any experience with Garmin Mobile XT ?

I understand it can be run with mobile phones - so you have bluetooth and GPS with say - Scala Q2 possibilities - has anyone got this running successfully ?

If so I'd like to know more.
Thanks
H

I use Garmin Mobile XT on my mobile phone and it does the job i usually put my phone into the top of my tank bag with the headphones in but i've now got one of these PELI 1010 MICRO CASE WITH FOAM SET COLOUR CLEAR BLACK on eBay (end time 30-Jul-09 08:37:59 BST) , abit of metal and 21mm plastic cable clamps to mount it to the handle bars of my dl650 v-strom

I've got it running on a Nokia 6220c and unlike the TomTom equivalent, it will work with internal GPS.

The battery life isn't great with GPS switched on so I would imagine it would be even less if also running bluetooth. I just use the headset that came with the phone.

BTW, I prefer TomTom Navigator which I've used on a N73 but with bluetooth GPS. Either the Garmin or TomTom is better than Nokia Maps and both can be found on the internet to evaluate before buying.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
