I have yet to travel in that part of the world, but for other parts of Asia I have found Reise Know How world mapping project pretty good. These maps are waterproof and they list maps for Thailand 1:1.2 mil and Cambodia 1:500000. Possibly a bit on the small scale for you though.

I have used the Reise maps in Thailand and Laos and found them to be ok, they are robust and waterproof, also they use gps coords rather than basic grids so you can use in conjunction with your gps

We are heading to the area on Sunday. We picked up these maps from Golden Triangle Riders:

Maps of Thailand & Laos Maps - Tourism Maps of S.E. Asia Sales Online

They don't cover the whole of the countries, though, but what it does cover is nicely detailed.

you can get waterproof paper that will go in your inkjet printer. simply copy the useful parts of the map.

I've used it before to make on bike nav maps that are very robust and waterproof, leaving the less robust original map to be carried in the dry and brought out for planning etc.

The paper is quite expensive, but not overly so an no special inks are needed. It is a good way to work it!

I ended up with a GT rider Laos map, national geographic thai and cambo maps. Look to do the job, just need to find a marker that will work. I will order the VN map just incase we can get in.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
