Which GPS live vehicle tracker? Europe

Hello folks,

I am looking for a live GPS vehicle tracker, that allows:

- kind of a "live mode", to monitor live position on a street map app, i.e. when the vehicle is transported by truck or driven by s´one else.

- kind of a "stand by/watch dog" mode, to be notified by SMS-alarm, when the car is moved (out of a geo fence), i.e. when the car is parked/stored long term abroad.

I understand, that these service require a subscribtion and need to be hard wired to the vehicle electrics/power feed and submit a "live" feed by a GSM signal. I´m looking for a model that works at least in Europe with a german SIM card.

How do you keep track of your vehicle´s location, once the shady courier drove off with it or since you left it in a barn abroad, to wait for you until the trip continues?

Every recommendation based on real life experience is highly appreciated.

Cheers
TT

I have Vodafone Curve in one of my vehicles and will likely install it in others. It's a low cost solution—just £30 to buy and £72 for a 24-month SIM contract that works in 90 countries.

You control it using a smartphone app which also shows current location. You can set up multiple geo fence locations and you will be told every time it leaves or enters the zone. It can operate on battery but wired it is better.

If the vehicle is moved you can change the tracking interval to practically real time whilst you give chase!

I'm using two different types on various bikes.

Monimoto - standalone unit powered by two consumable lithium batteries, paired with an ID fob. If the unit senses movement it checks for the fob - if none, it phones you and transmits a GPS location that can be viewed on the app or exported into another mapping app. So you carry the fob with you and there is no need to set or reset the system. Subscription is 36 EUR/yr and interface is via a phone app. Batteries have to be changed every 4-6 months.

Pegase - takes a 12v feed from the bike battery but stops taking power when battery voltage reaches 12,2V which should still be enough to start the bike... it also has internal rechargeable batteries that continue to power it for a week or so after it stops taking bike battery power. You turn the tracker on and off in the Pegase app so you could forget and come back to a load of "suspicious movement" alerts on your phone. Price is 299 EUR which is quite high, but this includes lifetime subscriptions so there are no ongoing annual charges. The unit can be used to chart all your rides or as a lap timer, as it recognises if you're repeatedly riding the same circuit.

Edit: Pegase have now incorporated a "go to my bike" feature which exports its position to Google maps, so you can navigate to it on your smartphone.

Hi,

I had Meta Trak when we rode from India to Finland. This unit has an inbuilt
SIM card, so you don't have to worry about coverage. It worked only partially
in Turkmenistan because there we didn't have GSM signal.

This has a monthly plan, at least in Finland and I bought it so my wife could
keep an eye if my bike is moving, she was a bit worried.

It has a lot of features, in Europe it will sense if you crash and make an emergency call, but I havent checked this. Also it can alarm you if bike is moved, battery power cut etc. Here a link to english page.

Swetrack

I use this

https://www.swetrack.com/gpstracking-products

3 different models.

Subscription for the SIM card is €4.90 per month for Europe.

I have not used something else, so I can't compare.
But it does everything that I want.

I use Android app and web browser in my computer.

Picture shows screen on tablet.
