GPS Maps

Currently traveling in South America myself, and my plan also was to use a GPS, but after much research regarding this topic, I found that there are no available GPS maps for the areas in question. You will have to use maps, and if you get geographically misplaced, ask, and ask allot, as timings and directions will change depending on where you are and who you ask.

Good luck and safe travels

I am currently north of Cartegena and have used a set of gps maps for my Zumo 660 that are Bolivian maps but have guided me through Bolivia, Peru and Colombia. It has all the main and B roads but not the minor nor unpaved roads. It is routable but the routing is dubious either parallel to the road, straight line between waypoints, across mountains or along rivers. apart from that they have got me here.
Not sure how big the file is but PM me with an email address and I will do my best to send you a link.
There are some reportedly excellent Zumo maps for Colombia sold by the son of Sory from Asurias bike shop, just around the corner from Casa Blanca Hostel in Cali they sells for $100 as a download and a single user licence. I decided not to invest as we were here for only 3 weeks and have managed without but on a couple of occasions we wished we had.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
