How do you share Garmin info with the world?

During our recent trip around Morocco we acquired a set of Garmin gps maps for Morocco, pistes etc from a very nice Frenchman. My mate with the Garmin Quest would like to share the maps but hasn't a clue how to do so, can anyone advise?

Cheers

Easiest method is to email or burn to cd the executable files which you would have got for the maps to him.

Otherwise, ask him to bring his gps (avec memory cards) to your pc and you can copy the maps over in the normal fashion.

The Garmin GPS units saves the tracks, waypoints, etc. as a GPX-file on the memory card.
So if you want to share your data just upload the GPX file to the forum.
Thanks

If the maps were Olaf's MarocTopo the easiest would be to download from GPS Vector Map Morocco

1) The mapset on the GPS has a different format from those on the PC .. and I don't know of a way to got backwards.

2) The mapset could be copywrite. On the start up screen the GPS should say what mapset/s it has ..

3) the map author should be the one doing the sharing of the mapset ... not a third (or fourth) party. This keeps things like updates easier to handel .. as well as copywrite.

Your mate would be best off sharing the tracks and waypoints he made ... and there are a number of people interested in that data !!!!!! To name some;

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
