Latest version of mapsource
Help
I have just updated my PC to the latest version of Garmin Mapsource (through the web) and have lost the one useful function - that of seeing my position (from the GPS) on the larger screen of the laptop.
Can anyone explain how to present the GPS position on the screen of the laptop with this so called improved version?
Confused
John

The GPS position on the Mapsource isn’t possible to see from the maybe 2 years old version, for navigation now you need to use the “N Route”, free download from the Garmin site. Also come with voices indications in many languages.

thanks Javier
I had version 2!
I'm a sad old fart - all this technology is smoke and mirrors to me
I still work with a sextant and sight reduction tables for lat and a watch for long
I'll check it out
cheers
John

Don't 'upgrade' to Mapsource 6.14 ...
Warning Mapsource 6.14 is
1) slow .. particularly if you have an older computer
2) does not like some (all?) of the free mapsets ..
You are best off sticking with version 6.13 at this time...

This is true and I wish I'd never upgraded last night. I'm going to uninstall it and put my old one back in.

Either that or do a 'system restore' to the day before you installed 6.14.
It worked for me

Sorry, but these are all updates. You can't use them to do a new install.

Maybe the very early ones can install.
My first "Mapsource Metroguide Europe 4.0" wasn't locked at all and could be installed many times and then upgraded.
Upgrades are normally full install software, it just checks the registry, for a previous Mapsource installation. I don't know, what it checks, as I bought my first Mapsource and have since upgraded it.
BTW I run 6.14 on a 3 year old computer with WinXP, with no problems.
I have som Mapsource installation files, but don't know if they are upgrades, although I'd normally name them accordingly.

Unfortunately I had just re-formated the laptop and had just installed mapsource when I updated it. Restore won't work for me. I'll just uninstall it and get it back in.
