OSM Garmin nl
Hi I'm having trouble with osmgamin.nl
I have this message at the top of the page;
"Sorry, due to server problems only country maps are currently available. You may need to refresh the browser cache first (CTRL-F5)"
I have tried from my iMac my girlfriends Mac book pro and from my iPad and iPhone with exactly the same results.
Is their something wrong with the site or are all my devices dooooomed as bad apples?

I found a forum discussing this issue. It seems the Dutch guy who runs the site and gone off grid and hasn't replied to any emails for around a year.
I have found another site for OSM maps but for some reason my computer won't open the ZIP file I've downloaded for Russia. I will be updating my ageing iMac for a new Mac book soon.
Hopefully that'll solve the issue and I can start my route planning East.

So what sites are people using these days to download maps? I have the zumo 660 and need to get some North America and Central America also Russia would be needed sooner than later.

Actually, you can select complete countries, but there doesn't seem to be a way to download them...

Guys,
I`m sure other with greater knowledge of everything computers and GPS will find all of this easy, however I am struggling. I used the site recommended by Chris Scott and have downloaded the required maps. I have unzipped however then I am lost. The site says......Is there an Idiots Guide?
"Installation
Garmin
Copy the *.img into the folder /Garmin/ of your microSD card. Installation in the onboard memory is not recommended.
Basecamp
Unzip the *.zip into the folder C:/ProgramData/Garmin/Maps/ and start Basecamp. No further installation required.
Thanks chaps

I am assuming you have a GPS gadget like a Montana?
Plug it into your computer, it should pop up on the desktop (on a Mac) as 2 things:
the garmin
and the
microSD card in your garmin
on the microSD card will be a folder 'garmin'
drag .img in there.
Turn on montana, scroll down to morocco, zoom right in and it ought to show up.
basecamp is another matter.
Don't ask me about phones...

yourdownloadedmap.img
should be the file you unzipped after downloading.
Drag it onto the SD card of the Zumo.
(I do wonder if Zumos - basically waterproof car-type Nuvis - are less map loading/user friendly than Montanas. I doubt it)

Hi Chris,
I tried several times to dowmload the maps on to my PC, however every time I did , I ended up with files that didnt have the .zip abd the end and when I extracted them, there was no files with .img
I tried this on myfriends Mac and it all dowloded correctly and I now have the maps on my SD card and they show clearly on the GPS unit.
I have no idea why this is so, but on a PC you cant see the files
