Which road maps for Turkey,Iran,Pakistan and KKH

Hi!

Does anybody have good or bad experiences with
a particular brand of road maps for the countries mentioned above?
I'm planning to go there without any GPS but just using old fashioned maps.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

hi!

i spent a month touring iran last year. had a gps but finally used road map that i found in a bookstore for a dollar or so. it was also very usefull to have 2 maps. one written with roman letters and the other one in iranian letters. often locals coudn't read roman letters. there where issued in 2004 and were pretty accurate. you wont have much choice anyway . in Pakistan it was very difficult to find a roadmap but tourist offices do have a map of northern pakistan. you wont have any problems to find a map in a petrol station in turkey.

cheers

The ones I use for Turkey are being published region by region every six months or something by http://www.ikinokta.com/toc_eng.htm and they can be found very easily in major bookstores. They are also called MAPMEDYA maps.

Do not hesitate to contact me so that I can provide the right ones for you.

Good rides

I found the Footprints guide book great for detailed description of roads in Pakistan. I think it is aimed - or written - by/for cyclists. They have lots of time to get the detail right.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
