TomTom Rider II
Does anyone know whether the above GPS unit has a World map available for it? I can't seem to find any information on the net and all I get from the local dealers is a blank look. I know that the Garmin Zumoo 550 has one and there is software available from Wanderlust but the TomTom is about half the price.

Can't help with the maps question, but I don't think they do:confused1: But there have been issues with the TT regarding the mounting brackets (motorcycle) breaking, and either losing the unit or it getting caught between the forks and fairing not safe .
Maybe a used Garmin would be a better proposition?

I've been using the TT for the last 18 months - fan bloody tastic GPS unit... problem with it is 2 fold
1 - bad bracket
2 - map support
Bracket is fixable - touratech do a really decent one that locks
Map support is more difficult - I've tried lots of ways of getting in other maps and data, all of which have failed - you can use this stuff
Le Web Bazar !!! GPS Tomtom !!! Applications !!! Tripmaster !!!
But it doesn't allow you to add maps etc... I think after this long of saying how wonderful the Tom Tom is - it's going on ebay so I can buy a garmin unit ready for my Africa trip.

With the Tomtom 2 the problem with the mounting bracket is fixed.

Hallelujah. TomTom couldn't fix it themselves though, so they outsourced the mount to another company. I still wouldn't buy another Rider though.. Have you dealt with their customer service yet? Not good..

true!
The touratech one is REALLY nice too - much better than even the new RAM mount that it ships with.

Thanks for the replies. It looks like I'll be living on bread and water for a few more weeks so I can afford the Zumo550. The main priority for me is the Worldmap. Mounting problems can always be overcome. Luckily my brother is a very good Tool and die maker and has a brain for such things.
