waypoint manager to unit base map
Hi,
Finally got annoyed enough to beg for help. What am I missing? My basic mapsource TRIP & WAYPOINT MANAGER has better detail than the base map on my old Garmin Map60C.
I find myself creating waypoints on towns, creating routes on roads, then transfering the routes and waypoints to the garmin. Surely there is a better way.
Sorry, if its a dumb question, but so far the unit is mostly used in the desert, hoping now for some use in Sri Lanka and Thailand.
Any advice appreciated.

Me Too!!!
I have the same problem!! When I try transfer to device it says I must first select a map, but it is the base map???
I have set the detail on my GPS to "most" and still no detail on the GPS.
The declutter option is also off.
Also when I do a city search on the GPS there are no cities listed??
Whose ar...se at Garmin can I shove this unit up?
Any ideas on either?

The 'base map' provided in mapsource cannot be downloaded to a gps, in the same way the base map on a gps cannot be uploaed to mapsource.
If you want another map then either buy one or learn how to use the free ones ... it will take some time to learn how to use the ones on Maps catalogue but it might be worth it...
On the 60 GPS there is a map selection menu (RTFM to find it) - you should select 'show all' to enable the units base map .. note that the base map might be for another part of the world and so not help you where you are. There is an active group making free maps for thialand. Not looked for Sir Lanka.
