Who wants routable map of kazakhstan??(GARMIN)?new version

Here you have routable map of Kazakhstan.

RapidShare: Easy Filehosting

just copy "Kazakshtan" folder into C:Garmin and run "install.reg", then open mapsource and you will see the map.

Edited with the new map, to much better.

Many thanks Fernan. I would have loved to have had this when I was in Kazakhstan last year.

More or less like this:
-Download source file.
-Open it with gpsmapedit " GPSMapEdit "
-"Save as - polish format"
-Open this file(polish format one) with the gpsmapedit and export to Garmin file".img"/cgpsmapper. (all this 2 last steps from "file" menu)

Now you have one ".img" file for garmin, you can just copy to your SD card (rename it to gmapsupp.img before), and will works.

To make the file for mapsource you need:
-gmaptool "Pliki" and
-cgpsmapper(this last one you need full version to make a routeable map, if not, you will have a non routeable one), you can look for it in google.

open the gmaptool, just write what you need (is very easy) select split and you have it.

Better map of Kazakshtan, routable too. Fixed all problems of routing, better for mapsource, enjoy.

RapidShare: Easy Filehosting

Updated first post too.

Nice!

Thanks Fernan,

Not going to Kazahkstan yet but now I can do some planning! I see you've got a few other maps posted on the HUBB. Do you have a listing of maps that you've converted available?

I think you will be taking the fun out of it. Use a world map/paper map and set the points you want to go via. It's ENOUGH!

No map displays

Thx for the link.
I will travel Kazachstan by bike this summer

I just downloaded the kazachstanmap and installed it. It shows me RELIZ5.4 in the map-selector field. And a blank map in the map-display. What I am doing wrong?

I am also looking for Kirchistan, southern Russia (The part between Ukraine and Kazachstan) and perhaps China. Any useful tips?

If anyone is interested, I also have the Ukraine maps. They navigate on CT Navigator but not on my Garmin for some reason.

Regards,
Sonic

In Mapsoruce choose "RELIZ5" and zoom on it, you will see all map. But zoom, because you will not see without zoom.

For all russia you have Roads of Russia 5.13, very accurate map, but is not for free.

Ooeps, what did I do???

I got the kazachstan map working. Then caused a problem installing China maps. Mapsource would no longer work.

After re-installing everything, I have Mapsource working again. But as soon as I hit the install.reg from the Kazachstan map, mapsource fails. THe only thing I can do is go back to before I caused this problem.

Unfortunately, I cannot go back to the point where Kazachstan was working....
What have I done, and more importantly, how do I correct it? Should I download again because the file has become corrupt or something?

Thx,
Sonic

(Soon on my way to kazachstan and hopefully china by motorbike from the Netherlands, so I only have a few weeks to correct the problems.)

Could be. Download free " AML free registry cleaner" to clean the registry of your computer and try again. Sometimes is not possible to add all maps to the same GMAPSUPP.IMG file, so make the maps in diferent SD cards, and change them when you will need it.

found the problem here...

I installed it and mapsource also didnt work

Note the registry entries need to be "C:\Garmin\Kazakshtan\noline.mdx" etc ...

Make sure after unRARing, your noline.mdx file and other directory files are in the directory "C:\Garmin\Kazakshtan\" ... note the incorrect spelling of "Kazakhstan" as "Kazakshtan". If you want this to work, you need to duplicate the dodgy spelling !

Once you get the files in the right directory, MapSource works again!
