Chris, just a couple of questions re. your updates:

Are the dog-infested hot springs actually at HbG, or are they some 60km east (H Tabankort on my 953)?

You say the Djanet road is under repair - am I right to assume it's still OK for a road bike though?

Its the ones just south of HbG - hopefully they have been chased off as its a popular spot.

Road ride to Djanet no probs, occasional potholes along the entire route notwithstanding.

Actually when are you going? I have something to deliver to Djanet soon?

Have a great ride

I'll be going at fairly short notice, aiming to leave in 3-4 weeks' time. If that's not too late for you, then no problem!

BTW, as I'm not yet sure of exact dates, is there any problem with "planning" now for a longer visit (say 6 weeks) for invitation/visa purposes, then departing later and returning earlier (max 10 days in Alg), to give me some flexibility, and avoid leaving invitation/visa till the last minute? I've been speaking with Claudia at Tarahist re. invite.

Err, I think the answer is 'no'.
Visas are for a month, I believe but ask at the consulate Tel. 020 7589 6885

Will let you know if my thing to deliver will be ready.

I'm pretty sure you can get a 3 month visa if you ask nicely, but you can only get it up to a month before you go.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
