Anyone going from Cairo to Lybia in november?
Hi there,
Currently in Aswan (Egypt) and heading north on 2 motorbikes. We might want to go via Libya to Tunisia. Anyone heading in the same direction from Cairo in november this year?
I also heard from an English couple in a landrover coming from Tunisia, that they travelled without a guide because he didn't show up. When they left Libya, no questions were asked.
Has anyone recently applied for a libyan visum in Cairo?
Cheers,
Corne

I'm hoping to cross Lybia from Egypt in mid-December. my ideal would be a south westerly route to enter Algeria at Ghat/Tin Alkoum and head to Djanet.
cheers

Your trip is very interresting ! Please give us infos about all borders crossing and difficulties about this .
See a previous post in this forum : to enter in Algeria via Ghat seems a little bit difficult !
Have a nice trip !

I went from Djanet to the border last year and, having a multiple entry visa for Algeria, I went over to chat with the Libyans about going in to see the Dakar. they said no, but brought us supper in where we camped in no-mans land and watched the rally in the morning ... enough reminiscing, I'm going dewy eyed.
the point is that exiting Libya via Ghat WAS possible and, subject to sharing costs with others this year, I'd like to do the NE-SW traverse under police scrutiny or not!
will let you know what I find in Sudan if I get my visa (in about an hour ... I'm so excited!)

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
