Fuel shortages, keep topped up

There's a transport strike in Morocco at the moment which is affecting fuel deliveries, so fill up whilst you are able. Sans plomb runs out first.

no fuel

All fuel ran out in Tinerhir 2 days ago and in Zagora yesterday.

Transport strike is protest against new driving code. 8000 dhiram fine for minor infrigements, lost licence for accidents.

Local response to the code here is "Ce nest pas laSuisse", "This is not Switzwerland"

Happy trails,

Jojo

We came over from Asni to Tarandount yesterday and the first station after the pass was out of unleaded - and the 2nd, and third.

We then emptied the 4th - 38 litres worth.

We then promptly saw 2 convoys heading out of the Agadir refinery - under police escort.

The strike ended today - according to everyone we have spoken to today - we are in Mirleft!!!

The strike is said to be over but there are still no fuel supplies and it is likely to take several days to get back to normal.

According to contacts there have been fuel deliveries in Marrakech. Rabat is also OK, but as yet nothing in Ouarzazate.

Fuel price

Diesel's around 0.74 Dhirams a litre in most fuel stations and about 0.89 Dhirams on the autoroutes, i.e.62p and 74p. Exchange rates aren't good at the moment due to the weak pound.
