Post Ghat - Tajarhi (Libya)

hello

Did any one tried this rout passing tru Wadi Methkandousk and in the Idehan Merzuk (sand sea)?

Starting in Ghat or serdeles and finishing in Tajarhi?

Most of the agencies, expciallly those based in Ghat have this trip in their programs.

Hello,
It is very difficult to cross the dunes in this direction. You have to jump up and down each dune string. The Murzuk sandsea have the dune strings in the direction NE-SW. No one agency do this way direct.

A guy I know did this route in Feb. Not via Wadi Mat and so less against the grain of the dunes. He said it was not as difficult as it looks.

I was told yesterday that entry into the Akakus from Ghat is closed since a year (due to illegals coming through from Alg) and the only way in and out is from the top via Serdeles. But clearly the guy's route came in from the Ghat area so who knows.

There is no piste - it is cross country through the dunes (this guy only travels in dunes). I can ask him for waypoints if you like.

The next 27 th a clockwise tour starting from Sebha and ending in Sebha run by Inazwa co. The trip includes the Mourzuk sand sea crossing from Tajerhi to Anay .

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB.
